Growing older takes all the fun out of birthdays right? I am sure I heard many of you murmur ‘yes’. As a kid I used to look forward to birthdays, growing older meant getting more privileges. Birthdays meant new clothes, gifts, a lot of chocolates, celebrations with friends, and the yummiest chocolate cake. But once you start nearing your 30s, birthdays are constant reminders of milestones you failed to achieve the previous year, you can hear the clock ticking the whole time, it’s a scary business I tell you.
So, to ease out the process for me, my husband took me to Dubai for the birthday weekend, a 3-day weekend. He had planned the entire trip for us. He shared the itinerary and the birthday surprises with me prior to the trip so that I could keep my outfits ready (imagine not being prepared for a surprise with that picture-worthy outfit!).
We met our friends first thing on Friday; gossip and stories shared over a cup of Filli tea and some hot paratha rolls. Our latest addiction is visiting various Escape Rooms in Dubai with friends. For those of you who are new to this concept, an escape room is a game where a team (2-8 persons usually) is locked in a room for 60 mins. The team has to solve a puzzle/mystery in an hour to win the game. The themes vary from scary ones to funny ones. Here is the link to Brain Game, located right next to ADCB metro station.
The main agenda of the trip was a helicopter ride around Dubai, with HeliDubai. Various services are available, you can visit the link to choose the most suitable option. We did the 17 min Palm Tour because it covers Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in addition to the other landmarks like Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis Hotel. Flying over the sanctuary is a pretty sight as you can see hundreds of pink dots on the ground below, which are actually pink flamingos.
I was really excited about this tour. However, owing to heavy rains on Friday and Saturday, we had to push it to Sunday. So when Sunday neared, I had my fingers crossed, hoping for a sunny bright day.
I vlogged my entire experience here. Do watch the video and let me know what you think.
And this is what I wore
About the look : I picked a one-shoulder top in blue and white for the helicopter ride. I paired it with white cropped jeans, a blue and beige sling bag, and a pair of sandals. The top is from Twenty4, the jeans from American Eagle Outfitters, sling bag from a local store in Hong Kong, and sandals from RIVA.
This is us. Oh yes! I sat in the front with the pilot 🙂
Hope you enjoyed reading the post. Show us some love by sharing our post and video, and subscribing to my channel 🙂 And like always, don’t forget to share your feedback with us!
Will be back soon with another exciting post 😀
